Garnier BB cream

How many of you (girls and boys) spend more than 5 minutes just applying foundation itself? Or even more if you are applying concealer before foundation? In total, applying make up every morning takes approximately 20 minutes of my time and it is rather annoying but honestly, I wasn't born with perfect skin, so let's face it. A lot of us just have to deal with it, but with Garnier's range of BB cream, it actually saves you so much time that you could probably snooze for another 10 minutes and who doesn't agree that sleep is of essence???? and who doesn't agree that sleep actually improves your skin condition and makes it look more subtle the next morning? Well, if you don't agree, fair enough. I respect your belief.

Now back to Garnier..
I have tried some other Korean brand BB cream but I often find the shade doesn't suit me. Koreans have a relatively fair skin and I suppose the shade will suit them often times than not but for me, being from Southeast Asian country, I have a slightly darker feature and my fairness is equivalent to Chinese fairness and when I use Koreans brand BB cream, my face turns really pale and when I take photos at night, I look like a ghost, no kidding! After spending like $50 on a bottle of BB cream and only used it twice, it has been sitting there collecting dust on my desk. Also, it dries my skin out too!
My skin is combination oily and is can be really dry sometimes, hence my skin produces excess oil to hydrate it. I hate seeing dry skin on my face, who doesn't? That white dead skin hanging on you face. Yuck!

Anyways, after reading lots of blogs about Garnier's BB cream, especially from a Singaporean blogger who did a one day challenge using Garnier's BB cream for 12 hours. For those who hasn't been to Singapore, Singapore weather is extremely humid and you sweat all the time. It also means, for people who have combination oily or oily skin, it is a complete nightmare. You can watch her video here.

After seeing that video, I decided to get one for myself too. Garnier's range of BB cream is available in majority drug stores in Australia and overseas. I got mine from Coles/Woolies and they are only $10 each!! Most of the time when I am there, it is always on promotion. I'm not sure how much sales they make from this range of products but this product is what you can describe as AWESOME!!

This is the first one that I got.

This is oil-free BB cream, well to be honest, the texture is more like liquid-ish than cream. It is meant to provide you with a matte finish and trust me, it really did make my skin looks matte. Also, it is meant to control the amount of oil your face produces throughout the day. I wore it for the whole day and it really stayed matte! I was so amazed by it. HOWEVER, then I realised that I bought the wrong shade! It was supposed to be light not medium. I looked orange and looked like fake tan went wrong! Plus I'm Asian. Not a good combination AT ALL!

On top of that, it does provide a matte finish but it also makes my skin dry and when I touch my face, it is not as smooth. It feels like I've got sand on my face. Not literally, just my closest description at the time. So, even though I think it does the job, I don't think it suits me. Although it controls my oil production which was simply amazing and I can't find that in any other products/matte foundations I've tried so far.

So, I went back to Coles and got a different type of Garnier's BB cream, the original one.

This is the original BB cream that Garnier first introduced. This time, I got the correct shade and as you can see, Garnier's BB cream not only acts as a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated which obviously your foundation can't do, it also evens complexion and boosts a healthy glow. Also, it provides SFP 15 UV sun protection! OMG, why didn't I discover so much earlier on??? For only $10 you get all these?? Are you kidding me??

This is how it looks like. This one has creamy texture unlike the oil-free range and smells really good too! For best result, it is recommended that you apply it twice on your face and neck. It feels so hydrating and for me, it also lasts for the whole day. It provides a dewy finish, hence your skin looks glowy and healthy. HOWEVER, the downside of it is that if your skin is super oily and you don't have bad acnes on your skin, maybe just apply once instead of twice because you don't want to turn into a greaseball after a long day.

This one is eye roll-on BB cream for your under eyes because it is formulated to reduce dark circles and puffiness from crying too much for whatever reasons, lack of sleep and pulling an allnighter. To be frank, I'm not sure how accurate about the claim to smooth fine lines. The thing is, I don't use these products every day because I still use my normal foundation to work but I use these on my day off and weekends because it is fast, easy and hydrating at the same time. I wear it to catch up with friends, enjoy the sun at the park on lazy weekends and they work wonderfully. I guess you have to do a trial over 1 month or 2 to discover its full potential. That is, you have to use it every day consistently.

Inside the package. The texture is similar to the oil-free BB cream, more liquid-ish and you just need to stroke the roll-on gently on your under eyes and on you lids and use your ring fingers to gently dab in a circular way. Apply twice for best result as recommended. It blends well along the facial BB cream and of course remember to pick the right shade as well.

Ta-dah! My face without make up at all, purely BB cream. Please ignore my frizzy hair. It is due for a saloon trip soon. On another important note, if you have relatively bad acnes or acne scars, I doubt these products will be right for you compared to what concealers can do but regardless, you should probably give it a try considering its affordable price!

That's it on my update, will share next time if I find good and cheap products again!
