MacBook Air

I am finally a Mac convert!!!!!!!! Well, this actually happens accidentally.
Although for a very long time, it was only my dream of having a Mac (first, I am too used to windows operation system and second, I couldn't afford a Mac)! Yes, when I was a student, I was very poor because I had to pay rent fees and help my parents paid my study fees in Australia. Hence, though I really wanted it, I demised the thought immediately.. There is a saying which goes "Becareful of what you are wishing for because it might as well come true" Well, in this case it is a blessing (:

I had a Toshiba before this, a crappy cheapo type because my Lenovo died on me without any aging sign visible.. The point where you plug the battery cable just died on me..How could it be???? Well, I do sometimes break things which is why even inanimate objects run from me..ahem.. (not saying this with much pride) because it just means I can't have luxury stuffs with me. Back to Mr Lenovo, since it passed away so abruptly, I had to find immediate replacement..like...the next day.

I got myself a 50% discount on Mr Toshiba and brought it home with me without a second thought because I can't live without a laptop! Well, not entirely true because I lived without the convenience of the Internet when I was still a primary school student.. Hmmm... Well, I suppose us human beings can only progress in the future and not going backwards.

Back to my initial story.. When I tell a story, I tend to sway away from the intend-to-tell story and I am pretty sure I am not the only one.. #Comeonejustadmitit.

So, when I was away on my 3 weeks holiday on last X'mas and New Year, something beyond expectation (though not uncommon) happened!!! I was all happy and merry spending New Year in Singapore and just when the countdown was over, my friend and I decided to have supper in the most popular district in Singapore (Clark Quay) and we ended up in Hooters (First Hooters' chain in Southeast Asia). We sat there, telling useless jokes, sharing serious stuffs, etc). I decided to check my Facebook because I thought to myself, since I am overseas, people who can't be in touch with me might leave a wall post or Facebook message. Hence, I checked by inbox and what I found was beyond HORRIFIC!!!

My housemate in Melbourne told me that our house had just been broken into! Call me ASAP!
The message was short and no elaboration in it. Leaving my friend and I analyzed the entire message tried to speculate all sorts of scenario. I thought the worst case scenario, my laptop is gone....
Before I left Melbourne, I decided to take all my valuable/important stuffs with me and I actually thought it might be risky since I was moving from one country to another and to another, I might lose stuffs if I was not careful. However, I did the right thing! I brought my hard disk drives with me, I brought my old and new cameras with me, I brought all my use/unused phones with me. I was glad!

Due to time difference between Singapore and Melbourne, I decided to wait until morning to call my housemate and check on her. My guess was right, my laptop was gone!! Apparently those little F***ers sneaked in from my housemate's room window, walked out shamelessly and walked into my bedroom while my housemate was sleeping in the living room! They drank my champagne while rummaging through my stuffs to find valuable belongings. They took out the clothes I folded in my small luggage, emptied it and put whatever they could steal into the luggage, including my poor Mr Toshiba ):

My housemate heard noises from the room as the fireworks went off, it was noisy outside but she was certain there were people in the room. As curious and brave as she is, she opened the door and saw two  BOYS in my room ransacking my wardrobe. As they knew she walked in, they didn't turn their face to even look as they must be scared to be recognized. They took off my room's window screen. Little F***ers are professionals indeed.. I am sure they have done it before. Some acquaintances whom I shared this story with even said that it might be an inside job because how could they know that I was not home? Unless they had been observing the house for quite some time.

Anyways, the police are getting onto it and I hope they will be able to capture the culprits or I will swear on them hoping some unfortunate events will get onto them and they will cry like babies saying "Karma is a biatch"!! and I am not sorry for whatever reasons they did it for.

Well, the bright side is that no one was harmed, thank God..

So, I got myself a new laptop, a Macbook Air!!!!! Whooopieee (:
I am really satisfied with it's performance and simplicity so far especially in uninstalling applications. You just have to move the app into trash and empty the trash unlike windows. Though I am not used to the direction of the scrolling yet (note that if you use the touchpad, the direction is opposed to using touchpad on windows). Instead of scrolling upside down to scroll down a page, it is downright up to scroll down a page.. I think I have just made it more complicated ..Opps.. You know what I mean if you are a Mac user, if not... Just convert to Mac xD

However, I am yet to find out shortcuts to commands as I am only used to windows' shortcut keys so far. In terms of design and weight, it is unbeatable as it is the thinnest laptop in the world invented till date and it is so light weighted! For full specifications, click here.

It is easy to carry anywhere everywhere without hurting your shoulders while carrying it unlike my former Toshiba that could eventually kill a human being if you throw them with it. You don't want to be jailed due to silly reason like that..

Another downside point to having Macbook Air is that I have to carry an external hard disc drive with me at all times because the built-in RAM is only 64GB and no you can't upgrade it by buying more RAM and install yourself like you could on a PC. Then again, Macbook Air is only meant for convenience. If you need to do a lot of work on the go, then Macbook Air is the most suitable option for you. Overall, I haven't needed to complain on it yet as I have just started using it. I received a free keyboard protector as you can see the white-osh layer on top of the keyboard on the picture below. It works wonder so far and doesn't fall off easily (note that this keyboard protector is not a sticker). It is just a transparent silicone-like material that just lies on top of the keyboard. It doesn't interfere with your keyboard activity and protects it from dust and nail scratches (especially for girls). I also got myself a WD 500 GB external HDD with password protector for my Mac as my other HDD is locked with read only windows format. I have to reformat it and can't be bothered. Besides, I will need both to store PC and Mac's materials. Overall, I will encourage people to choose Macbook Air if you intend to convert to Mac for the first time! (:

Photos were taken via iPhone instagram app (: because I am lazy and can't be bothered to use a proper camera for just two items #lazyass.
